OuterBay all set to start functioning from next week

OUTERBAY, a software company, has decided to start its functioning from the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park by the middle of next week. The company, which has its headquarters in Cupertino, California (US), is into software development and will be the first company to move in. The company will start its operations with an initial workforce of 50 IT professionals.

OuterBay, which is considered a leader in information lifecycle management solutions, will develop database applications like Oracle E-business, people soft applications and Java applications. The company will occupy space in the DLF building and work on its interiors is going on on a full scale.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday called for a second wave of development in Chandigarh, which should be anchored around rapid industrialisation and growth of the services sector.

Inaugurating the first phase of the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park, Dr. Singh said that the growth of the knowledge economy, the possibilities of outsourcing being opened up by technological developments and the rapid integration of the Indian economy with the global trading system were throwing up enormous opportunities which were waiting to be tapped.

"Chandigarh, and the region around it, has the right human resource base to tap this favourable environment and lead the region to a new dawn. I am certain that the Chandigarh Technology Park will be the turning point in the economic transformation of the region,'' he said.

PRIME MINISTER INAUGURATES TECHNOLOGY PARK AT CHANDIGARH

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park at Chandigarh today. Calling late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister as a great visionary with a passion for information technology, the Prime Minister said the region needs a second wave of development which has to be anchored around rapid industrialization and the growth of the service sector. The Prime Minister further stated that the planned development is essential to sustain the comparative advantage that our country enjoys by virtue of having a large reservoir of qualified youth.
